Finnair will launch flights from Helsinki to Xi'an, the capital city of the northwest Chinese province of Shaanxi, on 14 June 2013.
The thrice weekly service will become Finnair's fifth Chinese connection, as well as being the first direct link from Europe to Xi'an.
Flights will continue throughout the summer season, which runs until 26 October.
"The fast-growing Chinese economy continues to fuel rapid growth in demand for air travel to and from Europe, and to open up new opportunities for Finnair," says chief executive Mika Vehviläinen.
"We have a history of pioneering better connections between Europe and China going back to 1988, when we began flying to Beijing."
