Finnair passenger traffic up 10.6% in December

Finnair posted 10.6% year-on-year growth in passenger traffic in December against capacity growth of 2.4%, lifting passenger load factor by 5.7 percentage points to 77.1%.

International traffic grew year-on-year across European, North Atlantic and Asian markets, while domestic RPK traffic declined by 2.1% against a 1.9% capacity drop.

On North Atlantic routes the airline's load factor rose by 8.7 percentage points to 83.2%, with traffic growing by 15.8% and capacity rising by 3.7%.

Passenger traffic on European routes rose by 15.4%, while capacity grew by 9.7% and load factor rose by 3.6 percentage points to 72.1%.

Finnair's Asian network saw load factor increase by 6.4 percentage points to 76.9%, as traffic and capacity grew by 12.5% and 3.1% respectively.

Total passenger numbers at Finnair increased by 9.3% year-on-year to 667,000 in December. Total cargo carried by the airline decreased by 5.9% to 11,200t.
