Vilnius-based maintenance provider FL Technics has been approved to support Bombardier CRJ100 and CRJ200 aircraft flying under European regulations.

Lithuania's civil aviation administration issued the company with the European Aviation Safety Agency Part-M certificate for the type, covering maintenance planning and engineering services.

While the 50-seat regional jet is being phased out by many airlines in Western Europe, the MRO provider's chief executive, Jonas Butautis, expects increasing maintenance demand for the type from operators in Eastern Europe, Russia and the CIS.

Adding the new capability was part of a $20 million investment programme to expand the company's services and hangar capacity until 2015.
