Restructuring UK regional carrier Flybe is to launch new flights linking Southampton with another port city, Hamburg in Germany this October.
The new daily flights, the first linking the two cities, will begin on 26 October and will be operated with 118-seat Embraer 195s.
“Hamburg is a city that has strong business links to Southampton,” notes Southampton airport managing director Dave Lees. "We know that there are growing cruise links between these two major European ports, and there are many aerospace and marine industry links in both regions.”
Flybe, which has just announced a return to pre-tax profitability, is also increasing to four times daily frequency on its flights from the UK south-coast city to Dublin, and will add twice-weekly flights over the winter to La Rochelle in France.
