Flybe Nordic, the UK regional carrier's Scandinavian joint-venture, has formally signed a deal to operate 12 Embraer 190 jets on behalf of its partner Finnair. This firms up a memorandum of understanding signed on 22 May.

Taking effect from 28 October, the aircraft will operate services for Finnair on an undisclosed number of short-haul routes.

The agreement will take the number of aircraft flown by Flybe Finland to 28, with 21 of those flying under contract for Finnair.

Flybe adds that group performance in the quarter to 30 September was in line with management expectations.

Jim French, chairman and chief executive of Flybe Group says: "With this deal, 25% of the fleet under Flybe Group's management will be deployed under contract flying arrangements. We believe there are many more similar opportunities to develop this side of the business."
