Maldivian regional carrier Flyme, which is operated by Villa Air, will deploy ATR 72-600 aircraft on domestic services out of the country's capital Male.
The aircraft will be operated on services to Maamigili, Gan, and Dharavandhoo, complementing the two ATR 42-500s the airline has in its fleet, says ATR.
"We are delighted to upgrade our fleet with the most modern 70-seat regional aircraft renowned for its environmental friendliness. We want to associate our growth with the preservation of the environment in the Maldives," says Qasim Ibrahim, chairman of Villa Group, which owns Villa Air.
Male-based Villa Group is one of the island nation's largest private companies, dealing with holiday properties, fuel import and distribution, and tuna processing.
