Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Company (GAMECO) plans to build a second hangar near its base at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, and has chosen China Aviation Planning and Construction Development Company to construct the hangar.
The new 60,000sq m hangar will be located on land adjacent to GAMECO's base at the airport and will have space for eight narrowbody aircraft, says the maintenance, repair and overhaul firm.
It will be equipped with engine shops, maintenance support shops and new training facilities, adds GAMECO. Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of this year.
China Aviation Planning and Construction Development is part of Chinese consortium Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC).
"We are pleased to have the opportunity to once again work with China Aviation Planning and Construction Development on this hangar design to be able to provide additional hangar capacity for our customers and a world class facility for our employees," says GAMECO's general manager Bill Norman.
Lian Da Wei, president of China Aviation Planning and Construction Development, says: "We look forward to providing GAMECO with a design that can meet their growth needs while being in harmony with the current facilities and environmentally sound."
