Garuda Indonesia passenger load factor up 6.8ppts in February

Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia's passenger load factor rose by 6.8 percentage points year on year to 77.6% in February.

The airline's passenger traffic as measured in RPKs increased by 25.9%, compared with the same month last year, which had one extra day because of the leap year.

Capacity for the month, as measured in ASKs, increased by 14.9%, while passenger numbers grew by 25.2% to 1.81 million.

The carrier's domestic traffic rose by 11.7% year on year against capacity growth of 10.8%, while its load factor increased by 0.6 percentage points to 79%.

Garuda Indonesia's international RPKs climbed by 27.1%, compared with the same month last year. Its capacity rose by 8.9%, while load factor increased by 10.9 percentage points to 76.1%.

The airline carried 25,700t of cargo in February, a year-on-year increase of 20.9%. Cargo load factor fell by 2.6 percentage points to 44.1%, says Garuda.

Garuda Indonesia's low-cost carrier Citilink's passenger traffic for February more than doubled, while capacity increased by 77.1%. Passenger numbers also more than doubled to 375,000, while load factor rose by 11.2 percentage points to 79.1%, adds the airline.
