Garuda Indonesia plans to launch new domestic and international services in May and June.
It will launch Medan-Pekanbaru and Pekanbaru-Batam services on 1 May, followed by a Jakarta-Tanjung Pandan service on 15 May, and services from Denpasar to Balikpapan and Bandung on 18 May, the airline says.
The airline will also launch a Surabaya-Denpasar route on 19 May, and a Medan-Penang service on 1 June.
In addition, Indonesia's flag carrier launched four new domestic services on 15 April, using 96-seat Bombardier CRJ1000 regional jets.
These are the Medan-Batam, Medan-Padang, Medan-Palembang and Padang-Pekanbaru services.
Innovata schedules show that Garuda will compete with its low-cost arm Citilink on routes from Denpasar to Balikpapan and Bandung. It will also compete with Lion Air, Indonesia AirAsia, Mandala Airlines and Sriwijaya Air on the Medan-Pekanbaru route.
