Garuda passenger traffic up 6% in July

Garuda Indonesia Group's total passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, rose by 5.8 % in July, compared with the same month last year.

The airline's capacity for the month, as measured in ASKs, increased by 14% while passenger numbers climbed by 11% to 2.02 million.

The group's load factor fell by 5.5 percentage points to 74.3%.

The Indonesian flag carrier's domestic traffic rose by 4.9% year on year and its capacity increased by 17%. Its load factor decreased by 8.9 percentage points to 76.7%. Passenger numbers grew by 5.8% to 1.32 million.

Garuda Indonesia's international RPKs fell by 1.2%, compared with the same month last year. Its capacity rose by 5.2%, while its load factor declined by 4.6 percentage points to 71.6%. The number of passengers carried decreased by 3.2% to 329,000.

The airline carried 31,000t of cargo in July, a year-on-year increase of 29%. Its cargo load factor rose by 2.7 percentage points to 45.8%.

In July, its low-cost carrier Citilink's RPKs and ASKs increased by 61% and 56% respectively. Passenger numbers at the LCC also increased to 376,000 while its load factor rose by 2.3 percentage points to 78%.
