Garuda Indonesia has begun codesharing with Etihad Airways on destinations in Europe and the Middle East.

It has placed its code on Etihad-operated services from Abu Dhabi to London, Paris, Manchester, Moscow, Athens and Muscat, says Garuda.

In addition, Indonesia's flag carrier launched a four times weekly Jakarta-Abu Dhabi-Amsterdam service on 2 December using Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

This replaces the Jakarta-Dubai-Amsterdam service, which has the same frequency, adds the country's flag carrier.

Garuda also raised the frequency of its Jakarta-Bangkok service from twice to thrice daily on 1 December. It is using Boeing 737-800 aircraft on the additional service.

Innovata schedules show that Garuda competes with Etihad on the Jakarta-Abu Dhabi route, and KLM on the Abu Dhabi-Amsterdam route. It also competes with Thai Airways and Mandala Airlines on the Jakarta-Bangkok route.
