GE and Newcom to explore business opportunities in Mongolia

General Electric and the parent of Mongolian carrier Eznis have unveiled a partnership to research business opportunities in Mongolia.

The two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding outlining research in power, civil aviation, health care, railways, water, mining, lightening and financial services.

Privately-owned Newcom was founded in 1993, and has various business interests including Mongolia's leading mobile phone network Mobicom.

In a statement GE highlights that Mongolia's gross domestic product is expected to expand six times in the coming years, driven largely by growth in mining and infrastructure.

Enzis in January of 2009 signed a letter of interest for seven Bombardier CSeries aircraft, and said at the time it expected to firm up the order in 2010 after it completed a route evaluation with Bombardier.
