Operating lessor GECAS has completed a purchase-and-leaseback transaction with Aeromexico for a new GEnx engine.

Flightglobal’s Ascend Online database shows that the Mexican carrier operates five Boeing 787-8s, all leased from ILFC.

Aeromexico will take the first of two 787-8s this year from CIT Aerospace and has two more aircraft on backlog for 2015 delivery.

The engine will be used as a spare to support Aeromexico’s 787 fleet, says GECAS.
