Russian outsize freight carrier Volga-Dnepr appears to be pursuing a tie-up with Air Cargo Germany, a Boeing 747 operator based at Frankfurt Hahn.

The Germany competition authority Bundeskartellamt has identified both carriers in a newly-disclosed merger application document.

It states that the proposal was put to the competition authority on 1 March, but gives few other details. No decision date has been listed.

Volga-Dnepr has a fleet of Antonov An-124 and Ilyushin Il-76 transports but also operates Boeing 747 freighters through its scheduled arm AirBridge Cargo.

Air Cargo Germany emerged as a specialist 747 freight operator in 2008. It has a fleet of four 747-400SFs.
