Global Eagle Entertainment will develop wi-fi services for airlines in Thailand and surrounding countries in the Asia-Pacific region through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with satellite provider Thaicom.

The partnership will allow the company’s subsidiary Row 44 to provide its Ku-band hardware and software to airlines in these regions, as well as additional services such as network security, content and billing. Under the agreement, the two companies will work to build an infrastructure in the region to support the wi-fi network.

“We view the Asia-Pacific region as a major growth market for us where we can further execute on our plans to deliver greater value to airlines and a better experience for passengers through our robust content and connectivity service offerings,” says John LaValle, chief executive of Global Eagle Entertainment.
