Brazil's Gol and Aeromexico have signed a codeshare agreement, subject to approval by Brazilian authorities.

The deal will see Aeromexico placing its code on Gol's flights, allowing the Mexican airline's passengers to connect to Gol's destinations in Brazil and South America.

"Codeshare agreements enables Gol to have a stronger presence in key markets, as in Mexico, offering more benefits for our customers," says Alberto Fajerman, Gol's institutional relations director.

The two carriers have also agreed on reciprocal frequent flyer programme benefits, says Gol.

Gol has traditionally seeked close ties with carriers from SkyTeam, which Aeromexico is a member of.
