Former City Airline chief executive Jimmie Bergqvist has been appointed as CEO of Swedish regional carrier Golden Air, effective 1 June.

Bergqvist previously worked as commercial director of Malmo Aviation and CEO of Transwede, before joining City Airline in January 2007.

The City Airline name was dropped in November 2011 after the carrier was acquired by its competitor, Skyways.

Bergqvist will become a member of the supervisory board of Braathens Aviation, Golden Air's parent company.

Anders Kallsson will continue as CEO until 31 May and will also join Braathens' supervisory board.
