Greek regional carrier Astra Airlines has expanded its fleet with its first turboprop aircraft, an ATR 72-200 that was previously operated by Polish carrier Eurolot.

The Thessaloniki-based carrier has agreed to finance lease the 1992-vintage ATR 72-200 aircraft, in a deal brokered by marketing specialist Aelis Group.

The ATR 72-200 (MSN 328) was delivered on 25 April.

Eurolot hired the Aelis group in 2012 to dispose of 11 ATR aircraft including nine ATR 72-200s manufactured between 1991 and 1994 and a pair of ATR 42-500s built in 1994 and 1998. The transaction marks the ninth placement by Aelis and the fourth ATR unit transaction since the beginning of this year.

According to Flightglobal’s Ascend Online database, Astra Airlines operates two BAe 146-300s along with one Airbus A320 aircraft.
