Bahraini flag-carrier Gulf Air is behind the cancellation of two Airbus A319s revealed by the airframer's latest order backlog figures.

The airline, which has been adjusting its fleet capacity as part of a restructuring effort, had ordered the aircraft in June 2010.

Three other A320-family jets cancelled in January 2014 had been ordered by lessor CIT, the airframer's data shows.

American Airlines placed orders for seven baseline A321s during the same month while Tibet Airlines ordered a single A319.
