Middle Eastern carrier Gulf Air has taken delivery of two Embraer 170s, after opting to introduce the type earlier this year.

Gulf Air is to test the potential of regional jets on local routes from Bahrain.

The aircraft are configured in two classes, comprising seven business-class and 60 economy-class seats.

Embraer states that they are also fitted with an in-flight entertainment system.

Gulf Air chief Samer Majali says the 170s will "bring a new dynamic" to the airline.

Both twin-jets are being leased by Gulf Air following an agreement at the Bahrain Air Show in January.
