Increased links are being forged between India's Jet Airways and Bahraini flag-carrier Gulf Air, following the signing today of a codeshare agreement between the two airlines.
The agreement, which comes into effect on 12 April, will see Jet Airways' code being placed on all Gulf Air flights between its home base and Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
Gulf Air, in turn, will put its flight code on Jet's daily services between Mumbai and Bahrain.
"Besides offering enhanced connectivity to Bahrain from several cities in india, the agreement will also enable our guests from Bahrain to tap into our unmatched domestic network," says Jet Airways chief Nikos Kardassis.
His Gulf Air counterpart, Samer Majali, adds: "This agreement makes commercial sense for both carriers to achieve further revenue synergies by utilising each other's leadership position in their respective market niches."
Gulf Air has previously leased both Airbus A330-200s and Boeing 777-300ERs from Jet Airways after the Indian carrier slowed its pace of international expansion.
