Gulf Air is to launch services from its Bahrain home base to Kabul from 15 June, following its plan to concentrate increasingly on regional routes.

The new four-times weekly service from Manama to the Afghan capital will be operated by an Airbus A320 with 16 Falcon Gold premium seats and 120 economy-class seats.

Gulf Air CEO Samar Majali says the launch of the Kabul service "further demonstrates our strategy to connect the Kingdom of Bahrain with niche and under-served markets within the region that have high growth potential".

The launch of the Kabul route follows on the heels of a clutch of new services recently begun by Gulf Air to Basra, Addis Ababa, Isfahan, Milan and Geneva.
