Hawaiian Airlines has appointed Jim Landers as director of strategic initiatives, with a focus on operational efficiency and risk mitigation.

He will oversee high-impact strategic initiatives across business lines in the role, according to the carrier.

"Jim's extensive experience gained over his diverse military career will significantly enhance our operational and organisational efficiency as we continue to grow," says Ron Anderson-Lehman, executive vice-president and chief administrative officer of Honolulu-based Hawaiian, in a statement.

Landers was previously direct of operations for the commander of the US Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbour in the US Navy.
