Hong Kong Airlines is planning to launch an Airbus A330 freighter service between Hong Kong and Brussels, via Delhi, this autumn.

While Hong Kong Airlines has 23 Airbus A330s on order, the airframer does not list the freighter as part of the deal.

But a source at Brussels Airport says that the A330F is the type intended for the HK route, adding: "No specific date has been set for the launch of the service but we understand that it could be September or October."

Operating an initial programme of three weekly frequencies, HK Airlines intends to upgrade the service to six as soon as possible after the launch, says the source.

HK Airlines could not immediately be reached for comment. Cathay Pacific Airways already operates a freighter service on the Brussels-Hong Kong route.
