Hong Kong Airlines is considering the future of its high-profile all business-class route from London Gatwick to Hong Kong barely five months after the service began.

Launched with great fanfare in March, the route is served with two 116-seat Airbus A330-200s in a two-class layout. However, the airline is not accepting bookings for the flights beyond the end of August.

In a statement, the airline's UK operation says: "[Parent company] the HNA Group is now considering the future of the route, while it is Hong Kong Airlines that has closed out flights [from] September.

"HKA has not made an official statement to the UK office on the route's future at this stage."
