Iberia parent International Airlines Group has accepted the non-binding proposals put forward by a mediator aimed at settling the dispute over restructuring cuts at the Spanish carrier.
Unions at the carrier, which have already held two five-day stoppages in protest at the cuts, are due to meet today to give their response to the proposals.
Local media report the mediator's proposals put the number of job cuts closer to the 3,147 initially proposed by the airline alongside salary cuts. In February Iberia began consulting on 3,800 job cuts after failing to agree terms on the restructuring with unions.
The mediator's proposals are also reported to include overall wage cuts of 15% and improved redundancy terms.
