IAG chief executive Willie Walsh is to chair the governing board of the Oneworld airline alliance, succeeding American Airlines' chairman Tom Horton.
Horton has occupied the post since December 2011.
Oneworld confirms Walsh's appointment. It states that he takes over as the alliance prepares to accept three new members - TAM, US Airways and SriLankan Airlines - over the next few weeks.
Walsh was formerly chief executive of Aer Lingus and British Airways before moving to head IAG, the parent company of BA and Iberia.
