International Airlines Group has formally notified the European Commission regarding its plans to acquire UK operator BMI from Germany's Lufthansa.
The Commission, on its mergers database, stated that the notification had been submitted on 10 February. It gave a provisional deadline for the decision of 16 March.
IAG, the parent of British Airways, has been hoping to secure approval for the acquisition by the end of March.
