IAG traffic up 5% in August

International Airlines Group (IAG), the parent company of British Airways and Iberia, posted a 5% increase in passenger traffic in August compared with the same month in 2011.

Capacity grew 5.6% and load factor decreased by 0.5 percentage points to 84.4%.

Group premium traffic for August grew by 12.6% year-on-year, compared to 3.9% growth in non-premium traffic.

British Airways recorded a 7.2% increase in passenger traffic during the month alongside 7.9% growth in capacity, while freight traffic grew 6.3%.

Iberia posted a 0.2% decrease in passenger traffic and a 0.1% increase in capacity, with freight traffic falling by 10.2%.
