Australia's International Air Services Commission (IASC) has approved Virgin Australia's applications to codeshare with Singapore and Etihad Airlines on routes to Italy.

IASC has allowed the carrier to use 300 seats per week of capacity in both directions on the Italy route for codeshare services to Milan and Rome.

Virgin Australia will place its code on SIA's services from Singapore to Rome and Milan, and on Etihad Airways' services from Abu Dhabi to Milan.

IASC has granted an allocation for five years, and says that the capacity should be utilised by 26 October 2013. Virgin Australia is not permitted to utilise the capacity to provide joint services with another Australian carrier.
