The International Air Transport Association has appointed Jeffrey Shane as general counsel, effective 2 April.
He succeeds Gary Doernhoefer, who is leaving the association. Shane will be based at IATA's headquarters in Montreal.
Shane joins IATA from the law firm of Hogan Lovells US, where he has been a partner since 2008. He served as the US undersecretary of transportation for policy, US Department of Transportation (DOT). In this role, Shane supervised all economic regulation of aviation as well as US international aviation relations.
He has spent more than 25 years in public service, primarily focusing on international aviation.
