Iberia has specified initial recruitment numbers for its new low-cost subsidiary, Iberia Express.

The Spanish carrier plans to employ 500 staff members for the short- and medium-haul subsidiary, which is due to start operations with four Airbus A320s at the end of March.

This will include 125 pilots, 325 cabin crew members and 50 employees for other areas of the company.

The number of aircraft is to grow to 13 by the end of 2012.
