British Airways grew its May traffic 2.7% year-on-year, but for its Spanish IAG stablemate Iberia there was a decline of 16.3%.
Revenue passenger-kilometres totalled 11.1 billion for BA and 3.5 billion for Iberia, which cut capacity by 13.2%. BA's capacity kinked down 0.7%.
IAG group premium traffic was down 2.9%. "Traffic and load factor were affected by an earlier UK half term and an additional bank holiday," says IAG.
Cargo traffic declined 11.3% at BA, to 376 million cargo tonne-kilometres. At Iberia the figure was 85 million, an 8.6% decline.
Vueling, 90.5%-owned by IAG, clocked 1.5 billion RPKs. The Barcelona-based low-cost carrier's load factor was 76%.
