ICBC Leasing is placing a total of eight new Airbus and Boeing slots with two Chinese carriers.

The Chinese lessor has acquired two Air Berlin 737-800 future slot positions and placed them to Shenzhen Airlines for a 10-year operating lease term.

ICBC Leasing is also leasing six new A320-200s to China Southern Airlines for a period of 12 years.

The eight new aircraft are part of the $700 million 18-aircraft Air Berlin deal, covering used and new narrowbody aircraft, announced last November.

In an interview with CAO, managing director global head of aviation finance Johnny Lau says ICBC Leasing is focusing on operating leases this year. “As of today our portfolio comprises 63 aircraft, but we aim to have a 100-aircraft portfolio by the end of this year,” he comments.
