Updated with explanation for departure.

Incheon International Airport confirms that company chief executive Dr. Jung Chang-soo resigned effective 3 March.

A spokeswoman confirmed the resignation in an email to Flightglobal. She says he left the company to "serve the country in a further role - provincial elections."

Jung served in the role for less than 12 months, with his appointment occurring on 20 June 2013.

Prior to joining Incheon, Jung was vice-minister for land, transportation, and maritime affairs.

The spokeswoman did not provide details on the airport’s succession plans.
