Indian carriers’ domestic passenger numbers down 0.87% in May

The total number of domestic passengers carried by Indian airlines declined by 0.87% to 5.45 million in May from 5.5 million posted in the same period last year.

The largest market share of 27.9% went to Jet Airways including JetLite, followed by IndiGo at 24.9% and SpiceJet at 18.5%. The market share of Air India, Go Air and Kingfisher was at 16.2%, 7.2% and 5.2% respectively.

The seat factors of Air India, JetLite, SpiceJet and IndiGo grew to 70.6%, 80.5%, 82% and 86.3% respectively compared with April. Seat factors of Jet Airways, Kingfisher and Go Air fell to 77.1%, 73.3% and 78.1% respectively compared with the previous month.
