Indian carriers have reported a 4.8% year-on-year decline in August domestic passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, against a 0.1% increase in capacity, as measured in ASKs.
The largest market share went to IndiGo, at 27.6%, while Jet Airways, including subsidiary JetLite, captured a market share of 25.2%.
SpiceJet, Air India, Go Air and Kingfisher followed, with market shares of 18.5%, 18.2%, 7.4% and 3.2% respectively.
Load factors at IndiGo, Jet Airways and JetLite declined compared with July load factors to 73.4%, 66% and 68.6% respectively.
SpiceJet, Air India, Go Air and Kingfisher experienced growth in load factors from July to 67.2%, 66.1%, 67.7% and 53.2% respectively.
