Indian carriers’ passenger numbers up 9% in April

The total number of passengers carried by Indian airlines increased by 8.99% to 5.09 million in April from 4.67 million posted in April 2011.

The largest market share went to Jet Airways, including JetLite, at 28.2%, followed by IndiGo at 23.8% and SpiceJet at 17.7%. The market share of Air India, Go Air and Kingfisher was at 17.6%, 7.3% and 5.4%, respectively.

The seat factor of IndiGo, Go Air and SpiceJet grew to 82.0%, 80.8% and 80.0% respectively compared with March. Air India, Jet Airways, JetLite and Kingfisher also experienced growth in seat factor to 70.5%, 77.3%, 76.8% and 77.0% respectively.
