Indonesian carriers transported a total of 72.4 million passengers in 2012, says the country's transport ministry.
This was an increase of 10-15% from the year before, says the ministry, without providing the exact percentage.
Domestic passenger numbers reached 63.6 million and international passenger numbers were at 8.8 million, it adds.
Lion Air had the largest market share with 23.4 million passengers, followed by Garuda Indonesia with 14 million and Sriwijaya Air with 8.1 million passengers.
Batavia Air, which grounded its operations on 31 January, recorded 6 million passengers and Merpati had 2.1 million passengers.
Figures for other airlines such as Indonesia AirAsia and Mandala were not provided.
