Jakarta-based Aviastar plans to resume services between the towns of Jayapura and Wamena in Indonesia's Irian Jaya region.

The charter carrier will resume services sometime in September, as it has taken delivery of a leased BAe 146-200, says a spokeswoman.

Jayapura is on the northern coast of Irian Jaya and Wamena is in the mountainous central region.

Aviastar previously operated a 146-300 on the route, but this crashed on 9 April, killing all six onboard.

Aside from the 146-200, Aviastar operates four de Havilland Canada Twin Otters. Two are in Irian Jaya and two are in Indonesia's Borneo province of Kalimantan.
