Indonesian carrier Sky Aviation has secured financial backing from Vnesheconombank (VEB) to acquire Sukhoi Superjet 100s.

The Russian-state owned bank has extended an $80 million tied loan to Sky Aviation for 12 years. The funding covers three Superjets delivered to the carrier through VEB Leasing.

Sky Aviation has firm orders for nine more of the type to be supplied over the next two years.

VEB deputy chairman Alexander Ivanov says the loan facility is backed by a designated Russian export credit and investment agency.

Last year, VEB employed a similar scheme providing a loan toward funding 20 Superjets ordered by Mexican operator Interjet.
