Indonesia's largest privately-owned carrier Lion Air has signed a new three-year contract with GMF AeroAsia to do heavy maintenance checks on all its jet aircraft.
GMF says in a statement Lion is its largest customer after Gauruda Indonesia and that Lion has just signed a three-year contract.
"Through this agreement, GMF will perform maintenance services on all Lion and Wings Air" jet aircraft, it says. Wings is Lion's wholly-owned subsidiary.
Currently the fleet comprises of one Boeing MD-82, five Boeing MD-90s, two Boeing 737-300s, eight Boeing 737-400s, two Boeing 747-400s and 21 Boeing 737-900ERs, it adds.
In the statement GMF account manager, Khomsadi, says: "We are committed to improving our services to Lion" as agreed under the contract.
In a separate statement, GMF says on 6 May it passed its FAA audit. GMF is one of the few maintenance, repair and overhaul firms in Indonesia to be certified by the FAA. This means it is permitted to work on US registered aircraft.
