Curacao's Insel Air plans to launch twice-weekly, nonstop flights from North Carolina's Charlotte International airport to Curacao International airport.
The service, which starts on 22 June, will be operated on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
No other scheduled carrier links Charlotte with Curacao, according to flightglobal's ACAS database, which also shows that Insel's jet fleet comprises four Boeing MD-80s.
"The new service brings huge potential for growth in arrivals to Curacao from Charlotte, North Carolina, the surrounding area and feeder markets. With twice-weekly flights from Charlotte, we hope to introduce Curacao to more American travellers, making the destination more accessible from the middle Atlantic states, North Carolina and South Carolina," said Ghatim Kabbara, the CEO of the Curacao Tourist Board.
Insel currently serves Curacao nonstop with six weekly MD-80 flights from Miami, a service operated Sunday through Friday.
