Mexican low-cost carrier Interjet will launch flights to New York John F. Kennedy in August, adding its third US destination to its network.
The carrier will begin daily flights between Mexico City and New York from 2 August, using Airbus A320s.
Interjet had said previously in April that it aims to begin flights to New York as part of its ongoing international expansion. Interjet CEO Jose Luis Garza said then that it had secured the regulatory approvals for the flights and were waiting to receive new aircraft before it launches operations on the route.
Interjet already operates to Miami and San Antonio in the US. New York will be the airline's sixth international destination. Interjet also operates to Guatemala City, Havana and San Jose in Costa Rica.
Aeromexico and Delta Air Lines currently operate non-stop between Mexico City and New York JFK.
