Safran is to continue a programme running through 2015 to modernise its Messier-Bugatti-Dowty landing gear plant in Bidos, southwest France with the assistance of the local Aquitaine and Pyrénées Atlantiques governments.

Since 2007 Safran has invested some €10 million annually in the project, and will spend about €35 million on the second phase, which will include building a new 6,500m² (69,970ft²) facility to machine large titanium parts for Airbus A350s and Boeing 787s.
