Iraq's Erbil airport starts operations with Incheon's help

Incheon Airport's first overseas project, Erbil New Airport in Iraq, opened its doors on 29 March.

The South Korean airport has signed a five-year consulting service deal worth $31.5 million with the Kurdistan regional government and Erbil International Airport Authority.

Erbil Airport is the northern gateway to Kurdistan, Iraq. It can handle 2.75 million airline passengers and 17,000t of air cargo annually, and air flight/shipment demands in the airport is expected to increase continuously, says Incheon

After executing the agreement, Incheon Airport dispatched around 30 experts on airport operation, mechanical system, IT, and navigation system. It also consults across the entire spectrum of airport operations.
