JAL and Cathay Pacific expand codeshare agreement

Oneworld partners Japan Airlines (JAL) and Cathay Pacific Airways have expanded their codeshare agreement to cover flights operated by Cathay via Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore to destinations in Asia, Africa, Australia and Europe.

The agreement, effective 1 November, will allow JAL to codeshare on flights operated by Cathay between Hong Kong and Mumbai, Chennai, New Delhi, Penang, Surabaya, Ho Chi Minh City, Johannesburg, Brisbane, Rome and Milan.

In addition, JAL will place its code on Cathay flights on the Bangkok-Mumbai, Bangkok-New Delhi and Singapore-Colombo routes.

JAL says the agreement will expand its network further by 11 destinations and 13 routes.

The airlines recently announced codesharing on all flights operated by both carriers on all routes between Japan and Hong Kong and 13 selected domestic routes operated by JAL. This agreement will take effect from 31 October.
