Japan Airlines (JAL) has posted a 84.5% increase in domestic passenger traffic in August from the same period a year ago.
Domestic capacity, as measured in ASKs, rose by 81.9%, while total passenger numbers grew by 83.7% to 2.93 million. The load factor stood at 71.8%, said the Oneworld alliance member.
Traffic on international routes increased by 69.8% against a capacity increase of 72.6% year on year. Passenger numbers were up by 70.9% at 650,000. The airline's load factor was 76.2% in August.
The amount of international cargo carried by JAL increased by 46% to 18,800 tonnes, with a 75.6% rise in mail carried to 2,100 tonnes. Total cargo carried on domestic routes rose by 82.7% to 32,700 tonnes, with a 95.4% growth in mail carried to 2,000 tonnes, said the carrier.
