The Boeing 787 has made its first revenue service into the USA with Japan Airlines.
The Oneworld alliance member began services on the Tokyo Narita-Boston route on 22 April. This is also the airline's first 787 service.
"By deploying the 787 Dreamliner on long-haul routes to markets that can garner substantial travel demand, such as Boston, JAL is making best use of the aircraft's long-range capability, appropriate capacity and its economic performance," says the airline's president Yoshiharu Ueki.
JAL, which has received two 787-8s, plans to deploy the aircraft next on services to Singapore from Tokyo's Haneda and Narita airports.
It also plans to use the aircraft on flights to Beijing, New Delhi, Moscow, Helsinki and San Diego in the coming months.
The airline has ordered 45 Boeing 787s.
