Qantas has applied to Australia's International Air Services Commission for a variation that would allow Japan Airlines to codeshare on its services to New Zealand.
The Oneworld alliance member says in its application to the commission that JAL intends to codeshare on selected services to New Zealand from March 4, subject to regulatory approvals.
Flightglobal’s FlightMaps Analytics shows that Qantas flies to Auckland, Christchurch, Queenstown and Wellington from Sydney. It also operates Brisbane-Auckland, Melbourne-Auckland and Melbourne-Wellington services.
Qantas also has an alliance with Emirates covering its services to New Zealand, however it appears that JAL will not apply its code to those services.
